Born and raised in a small rural town in Northwest Pennsylvania, I've always loved spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and using my imagination to get creative.
After leaving Saegertown in 2008, I went to college at the University of Pittsburgh where I got my first taste of city living. I was lucky enough to study abroad in London during the Fall of 2010, and got the chance to visit a total of nine countries in Europe during my stay. This experience really opened my eyes to the joys of travel.
Once I had my college diploma in hand, I started my career in the publishing industry, living in Pittsburgh for three more years until 2015. This year was rather formative for me, as big changes took place that really shaped my perspective on life. I took my first national park trip to Utah where I trekked across Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Arches. I've been making my way to new national parks ever since. There's nothing quite like immersing yourself in the splendor of untouched natural landscapes. In the summer, I lived in Manhattan while attending the New York University Summer Publishing Institute, and after deciding the Big Apple wasn't for me, took the plunge and moved to Seattle, Washington at the end of August. I'd been dreaming of moving west since my first visit to the Emerald City in 2011, and now that I'm here, I can honestly say I've never regretted the decision.
As the author of three novels, with a fourth in the works, I've had a personal website since 2012 that focused almost entirely on promoting my books and other writing endeavors. In 2018, I decided to expand arigby.com to include more of the things I'm passionate about, so here we are. This website is meant to serve as a sort of journal for myself to keep track of my travels and outdoor adventures, as well as to provide insight into the places I've been fortunate enough to see.
I hope you enjoy navigating through these pages and find some inspiration to get outdoors, travel to a new city, or write that next short story.
