Biscayne

Nearly 95% of this park in South Florida is made up of water, as the large Biscayne Bay dominates the park’s area. Other parts of the park include the northern Florida Keys, and offshore coral reefs, with only a small portion being mainland shoreline and islands. I got to visit in January 2019 with my mom, and we took a boat ride from the mainland out to the island of Boca Chita Key. It was a pleasant boat ride, and once we arrived at the island we got to explore a bit, climbing up to the top of the famous lighthouse, wandering past palm trees on the island, and walking along mangrove-lined white sand beaches. I’d also recommend snorkeling or other water activities (which we didn’t have the chance to do) to get a true sense for the magic of this park.
