Haleakala
During my first visit to Hawaii, I got to visit the island of Maui, where this park is located toward the center of the island. My friends and I drove up to the top of the crater, where it’s possible to hike into this dormant volcano. Unfortunately it was a pretty overcast day, so we didn’t get as epic of views as we were hoping for, but it was still really special to hike down into Haleakala on the Sliding Sands Trail to get a sense of what this dynamic landscape is all about.
