Kings Canyon

Our California national park adventure continued on from Yosemite to Kings Canyon, our second stop on the trip. Driving into the canyon on the scenic byway was pretty incredible, as you drop thousands of feet really quickly on a super windy road. We parked near where the road ends alongside the idyllic Zumwalt Meadow, a place so naturally gorgeous and serene we didn’t want to leave. Rose and I frolicked in the meadow, moving through the tall grass and staring up at the towering rocky peaks, before heading into the forest to explore a bit more. It wasn’t long before we stumbled across a mama bear and a few of her cubs crossing the trail, so we quickly started yelling “bear!” and began walking backward toward the meadow. We explored along the Kings River and checked out the Roaring River Falls before we left this area, and then visited the Grant Grove, where the world’s second largest tree by volume, the General Grant tree, was an impressive sight to see!
