Redwood
For Thanksgiving 2017, I took a road trip with my boyfriend at the time and my dog and met up with two other friends in Northern California to explore Redwood National Park. It was a long drive from Seattle, but it was well worth it. This was my 10th new national park in 2017! We got up close to the towering redwoods for the first time in the Lady Bird Johnson Grove, where atmospheric haze and fog made the scenery all the more moody. The next day the sun came out and we got to hike the Tall Trees Trail, where more super tall redwoods showed off, this time with their warm-colored bark being highlighted by the sunshine. We concluded our visit by walking along Gold Bluffs Beach, a peaceful stretch of coast which is also protected by the park.
