Saguaro
Right before Covid locked the world down in early 2020, I got to take a trip to Arizona with two good friends. Our first stop was Saguaro National Park, a fascinating desert park that’s bisected into two halves by the city of Tucson. We got to walk along multiple trails in the bright sunlight, coming across hundreds of saguaro cacti of every shape, size, and stature. Seeing these iconic cacti up close was really incredible, as you can’t quite understand how big they can get until you’re standing underneath one that is over 40 feet tall, or even taller! We got to check out both sides of the park, complete with a stop in Tucson during the afternoon for some tacos for lunch. We ended the day by watching the sunset at Gates Pass, which was really spectacular. From here, we watched in awe as the sky turned warm colors, and the silhouettes of cacti contrasted against the horizon.
